Lost in Fuseta

OneGate Media today announces it has secured worldwide distribution rights for parts 3 and 4 of the crime series Lost in Fuseta, based on Holger Karsten Schmidt’s bestselling crime novel collection. Bolstering OneGate Media’s slate of crime entertainment, Lost in Fuseta parts 3 and 4 follow the global success of the first episodes, and will be presented at MIPCOM later this year.

Parts 3 and 4 return to the sunny town of Fuseta, Portugal, where Inspector Leander Lost (Jan Krauter), a high functioning autistic police detective, discovers his colleague Teresa (Carlota Crespo) is missing. Lost begins the search for his colleague, with inspectors Graciana Rosado (Eva Meckbach) and Carlos Esteves (Daniel Christensen).

When Teresa is found murdered, Lost is confronted with the question why a simple policewoman had to die – only to find out that her death was a collateral damage and that there is something much bigger behind the case… The series is directed by Felix Herzogenrath who directed many episodes of Germany’s most successful crime series (Tatort, Nord bei Nordwest).

Highly popular with audiences around the world, the first part of Lost in Fuseta has been recognised for its high-production value and intricate plotlines. The much-anticipated series will uncover the layers of Leander Lost’s character, further delving into his exceptional skills as a detective with autism, whilst exploring the character relationships and dynamics within the detective’s department.

Parts 1 and 2 of Lost in Fuseta premiered on ARD last year, with a market share of 18.5% and secured over 4 million viewers. Parts 3 and 4 will be broadcast in early 2024 on ARD with, 2 x 90-minute films or 4 x 45 episodes.

Lost in Fuseta 3 and 4, Tracing Shadows is produced by 307 production GmbH.

Tania Reichert-Facilides, Managing Director of OneGate Media GmbH, says, “With a fantastic German-Portuguese cast, especially Jan Krauter as the autistic Inspector Leander Lost, this series set in the picturesque Algarve is light crime at its best. With the huge success of parts 1 and 2 in Germany last year, author Holger Karsten Schmidt has laid the foundations for a hit show and parts 3 and 4 will delve even deeper into these complicated but loveable characters that audiences can’t get enough of.”

Simone Höller, Managing Director of 307 production GmbH, says, “The fascinating thing about Leander Lost is that you immediately take him – as strange as he may seem at first glance – into your heart. With his unmistakable signature, Felix Herzogenrath has staged the characters of Lost, Graciana and Carlos in such an endearing and authentic way that you want to be part of the team yourself. Dominik Berg’s camera is of a visual power and modernity that makes this crime thriller stand out far from the crowd of other TV crime thrillers.”
