OneGate Media today announces it has secured worldwide distribution rights for the drama series, Isolated (8×45’). The series will be featured on OneGate Media’s varied slate for MIPCOM this year.
Set on the eerie Utö Island, the series begins on a typical day, where the local residents of the island await the arrival of the weekly ferry from the mainland.
As the ferry disappears over the horizon, a piercing sound causes the island’s rats and birds to flee. Minutes later the island’s electricity and water supplies fail, along with the radios and telephones, until all contact with the outside world is cut off.
The only sailboat in the area is sent to find help but disappears enroute. Realising that they are stranded, the islanders are overcome with fear.
Isolated combines the setting of the intimidating enormity of the Baltic Sea, notorious for its shipwrecks and mysterious electromagnetic fields, with the gripping stories of each character. The series draws audiences into the claustrophobic atmosphere, as the island’s civilians are plummeted into the fear of the unknown.
OneGate Media will screen the first episode of Isolated at MIPCOM next month, with the series set to air in 2024.
Isolated is produced by Oskari Huttu, Head of Drama at Lucy Loves Drama (My Husband’s Wife), alongside Marko Antila and Mikko Räisänen.
