OneGate Media is repositioning its acquisition and co-production departments as of 1 December 2023, with the appointment of Johannes Plenk. Plenk joins from Sky Deutschland where he served as Director of Entertaiment Channels. He brings with him a wealth of experience in the TV and film industry in various positions at Bavaria Film, CNN and Universal Studios.
His role at OneGate Media will include the strategic planning and implementation of programme acquisition. Plenk will be responsible for acquiring films and series from German producers and distributors, as well as from international partners. He will continue to expand the company’s contacts with programme suppliers from the German producer and public broadcasting landscape.
Johannes Plenk, educated in Verona and Stirling, Scotland, among other places, has broad media experience and is also very experienced in the German and international production scene. Most recently, he played a major role in the success of various non-scripted productions at Sky Deutschland. Before that, he was responsible for the channels Sky Krimi and Sky 1 for over 7 years.
